Coal Bank Pass  |  San Juan CR 14





 

Pretty much right across the street from FS802 is San Juan's county road 14 (here).




Just up this road a short bit is an old mining area with holding ponds...


















 

There are numerous posing locations all along the road...









 

We stopped to take photos once in a while. This time, we got out and walked around a little bit,
and check out the flowers and other wonderful things that we could see from this vantage point...







Looking across the valley toward the northwest reveals a view of the east side of the road to Black Bear Pass (here)...














 

Can't have too many pics of Sandi.
Well...OK, maybe we can, but oh well  :lol:














 

On first glance, this one is obviously a bit lackluster, but wait...
This is the reflection in Sandi's driver side rear door window.   :-)

I had no idea what the 'St. Paul Lodge' was at the time (this being our first time on this road), but I looked it up, and here is more info.
    








Just as a point of curiosity, here is the start of Black Bear Pass.









I've wondered what this snow cat is doing, sitting on the side of the highway.




Now I suspect it has something to do with the aforementioned St. Paul Lodge.
Man, I'd love to have one of those things.
