The image above is a crop of a photo I took on a paleontology trip with some
WIPS (Western
Interior Paleontological
Society) friends
in the summer of 2009.

Three of the images on this page were modified. I have identified them in the
captions.
Other than those, all images are just plain, old photographs.
This is in a field near home
This is from a photo shoot in a field on my way home from the store one evening
The next three images are from a corn field near home
- no corn was hurt during the taking of these photos
;)
This was on the frontage road for I-25 some evening on my way home after work
This was on Pole Hill Rd. after a trail run with
BigBlu (Chicago) and some CO FJs in August
of 2008
On a road through a corn field near home
I couldn't decide which way the photo above looked best; like that or like this...
Not very exciting, but I love this colorful, Colorado sky
This was taken somewhere near Eads, Colorado on our way to Texas in December of
2008.
In a shopping center parking lot while picking up something on my way home from
work
This was after a paleontology field trip at one of my favorite spots in Texas on
our 2008 trip.
Those familiar with it may recognize this spot.
Office building in the Denver metro area. I'm sure you recognize it if you work
there.
In a field in Boulder County on my way home from work
(this is one of three shots that I
modified....darkening to make the sky color look more vivid.
Not much help when it so darkened everything else.)
Somewhere in Broomfield, CO
No modifications were done to this photo. That's just how the sky looked that
evening.
The next three images were taken in a field in Longmont.
Once I started zooming in on the sun rays, I noticed the parachuters in the
distance.
(This is the second one that I modified; bumped up
the contrast to help make the parachuters more distinct.)
I almost entered one of these into the November photo contest,
but was overruled by my love for the color in the sky in the other one.
Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Office on Cherryvale
(This is the third one that I odified; like the
first, darkened to make the sky more vivid)
Massive thunderhead in field near home
Different view of same as above
In field near home
Parked in field at Texas Roadhouse in Longmont
Karen in Ouray with sunset on the Amphitheater just before
alpenglow
In a field on a county road near home
This is the full photo from which the top image on this page was cropped
These last three are from RMNP.
I couldn't decide whether I liked the view with the full FJ in it or just
partial.
At the end of the day, it just doesn't
get much better than this
Well, of course there were more than this, but these are the ones I decided to
pick out and put on display.
Actually, when I was preparing for the November 2009 photo contest on
FJCruiserForums.com,
(which, of course, I did not win)
I discovered that I had groupings of photos from over a hundred sunrise and
sunset photo shoots with
Sandi.
I chose 51 groupings out of those, and then chose these photos out of those
groupings.
The photo which I ultimately chose to enter into that contest is where the
cropped image came from for the
index
page of this set.
Here are the other photos (the
numbers are links
directly to the photos)
that I really liked from other people in that contest...
2 (Voodoo Blue on beach with sun
shining through big tree) 4 (Titanium Metallic on beach with sun on the horizon of the water) 5 (Titanium or Sandstorm with roof lights in sand/dirt) 11 (Titanium canyonlands-ish, red dirt desert area) 16 (Titanium or Sandstorm with tree on left and flowers on ground) 22 (Silhoette of FJ and mountains with pond in foreground and sun peaking over mountains on left) |
By the way,
congrats to MotorDrive!!
