Tonight while watching part of "the Apprentice", I heard one of the
participants say the following statement...
"...being in MENSA, it helps me think quickly on my feet..."
It's not "being in MENSA" that helps him think quickly on his feet; it's
his brain-type.
MENSA does not
cause him to think quickly on his feet. It simply recognizes the fact
that he has extremely high intelligence (and can already, by nature,
think quickly on his feet).
no, the fact that he's a member of MENSA does not make him think quickly
on his feet.
Instead, it is the fact that he is able to think quickly on his feet
that qualifies him to be a member of MENSA.
So, his mentioning the fact that he is a member of MENSA was the only
point of mentioning that he's a member of MENSA. It was obviously
(a word choice I use ever so more wickedly now in light of the beating I
took for it among a distinct horde with whom I am well acquainted and am
indeed one of) a ploy to get us (the audience), and his fellow
competitors to think more highly of him self.
Perhaps we will or would or might think more highly of someone that is a
member of MENSA (I can accept the fact that there certainly are
legitimate reasons to do so with this and other organizations), but
certainly not just because they say so.
Let's see how well he performs along the way in this adventure of trying
to become the next Apprentice and then say whether or not we're
impressed.
