This day, we were out with 08BigWhitey (Black Diamond FJC), ARMY_CRUISER (Iceburg
FJC),
Ranger92 (Voodoo Blue FJC), tisilverFJ (Titanium Metallic FJC), and robsp222
(Caramel pea-soup-green FJ40)
We went on
Bunce School Road,
Ironclads & the
T-33A Plane Crash Trail.
Here's the forum thread for this trail run...
FJCruiserForums.com - Denver,Boulder area run 5/23/10?
Unfortunately, we ended up finding three different dead ends;
one was a huge tree blocking the road, and the other two were huge snow drifts
(no other tracks there yet either).
So, some of us will be heading back up there in a month or so to finish what we
started.
I will be adding videos soon...
For now, here are some photos I took on this day in the mountains
with friends both old and new...
on our way up South St. Vrain Canyon
We accessed Bunce School Road on the North end at highway 7.
Then we turned up the mountain when we got to Ironclads (216).
Hangin out by some rocks on Ironclads; just above Bunce School Road
Robsp222 and 08BigWhitey at our first dead end of the day
Sandi posing in the woods (not surprising)
Here's the deal; it looked like the trail didn't go much further, would be going
through private property,
AND there was this fallen tree in the way. Didn't seem worth spending time to
move it.

Next time, JammerGirl and I are going to climb that thing
Here she is, hanging out in the sunshine (and the comfort of the FJ; she was
kinda chilly that day)
on our way back down Ironclads...

ARMY_CRUISER Splashing Through Muddy Water
hanging out near the Camp Dick end of Bunce School Rd.; just before the gate,
and just before taking the right turn onto 202 (the first leg of the T-33A Plane
Crash Trail.
Then, once we found that the Camp Dick gate was open, we headed up 202 for the
T-33A Plane Crash trail.
We were supposed to take a right at 203 to continue to the plane crash site, but
we missed it due to a fallen tree.
Instead, we ended up here...
This was our second dead end (due to snow this time) of the day; on 202.
We thought the sign was a ranger's temporary 'trail closed' sign in the middle
of the road at first,
but this clearly shows it was on the side of the road. I didn't go close enough
to read what it actually has on it.
We may have actually been able to continue at this point, but none of us walked
over to check it out any further,
and just figured we'd check it out next time; in favor of continuing on for the
day elsewhere.
On our way back out from the 202 dead end, I noticed that the fallen tree that
we passed earlier was
the reason I had missed 203
(paid all my attention to the tree and completely missed the 203 sign on our way
up.
So, we decided to head up 203 to the plane crash site.
Here's a rock ledge spot on our way up 203

the old and the new
It was cool to see the other rigs with the same tires as we have on Sandi that
day. Here's 08BigWhitey's Black Diamond
Even though it's only 28 years old (robsp222's FJ40 from 82), it was hard to
resist this caricature.

Slippery Squeeze
Here's the 40 heading back down from our third dead end of the day; this time on
203.
We did not make it to the plane crash site. Perhaps the drifts on the right give
a clue why.

Here are a few videos of some of us going back down the last rocky spot...
