Paul Did the Body Mount Chop for Sandi (20080621)

For those not familiar with this procedure, here is a link to the page of 'body mount chop' info which I put together to explain it to Paul.
Basically, there is a piece of metal (part of a body mount) on the FJ that sticks out into the wheel well on the back side of both front wheel wells;
so much so that it inhibits full usage some tires which are larger than the size that comes on the vehicle from the factory.

In our case, the tires we bought are actually exactly the same size as those found on one of the factory models (265/75R16 BFG AT T/A KO),
but the wheels are different; they have zero offset, whereas the stock wheels have a +15 offset,
which means that the tires sit out further on our replacement wheels, and when turned to full lock (one way or the other),
the tire touches this body mount.

I will also eventually get a page up here with some photos of what that was doing to the tires before we had this body mount chop done to Sandi
- along with the story of how they got replaced. For now, here's a link to a page where I posted some of the story last year.

Oh, Paul is the same person that created a replacement spacer for Sandi's skid plate earlier this month.

This page has a lot of photos from this project; not because they're great photos or anything like that,
but just so that others can see some of the process, in case they're curious.

getting ready on passenger side first

Paul measuring the body mount

marked the places to cut with a white crayon

Paul getting the tool all set

...and the cutting is underway

partially cut from the left side ....full cut on the front side

both cuts pretty much complete  ...just a bit more at their intersection to make the piece fall off

the offending piece of the front, passenger-side body mount is gone

then Paul smoothed off the jagged edges a bit

Here's Paul getting ready to do the driver's side

got it marked

after some cutting

it's been cut and pulled off

smoothing off the edges

This is the driver's side piece

Next, are some little videos I recorded that day
