Sandi, the Fossil Journey Cruiser:
a Boulder Sandstorm at Every Fork in the Road

Miller Rock trail run with the Colorado FJs (20080615)

For starters, here is a view looking down on the white tops...

...and a view looking up to the other white tops in the distance.

In this view, we can see the roof of every one of the thirteen FJs we had on this run.
A couple on the left may be a bit hard to spot if you didn't already know they're there, but I can pick em out.

Ok, I had to follow that one up with another view of the other set of white tops...

JammerGirl running with the dog on top of Miller Rock.

Another view of the FJs down below with a bit of the
Eastern edge of the Front Range mountains in the background.

What's the dog looking at?...

Of course...it's Rocky Mountain National Park.
It's neat to see a view like this and be able to say you've climbed many of the peaks visible in the distance.

Back down at the picnic area after seeing the view from on top.

Didn't know Bill was such an artist, did you?

There's a story to this....ok, maybe it's not really much of a story, but it's neat.
When we hiked to Miller Rock the day before, a friend of ours hung this metal object that he found in the woods
on a tree along the way (way off the trail). Then we saw it sitting on a rock on the day of the Colorado FJs trail run.
Bill took it, added a rock to it, scrunched the bottom together to hold it and stood it up like a flower.

It's not exactly a parking lot, but we certainly made due.

Of course, there's a bit of story telling time...

RockyMtnHigh, what a hella-va-guy.    Man! that's a nice lookin rig.

Funny...just about everyone's body position and facial expression changed between these two, except Jock.
I could have copied and pasted him from the first one into the second one and you'd never even know it.  :)

Here are some of the rigs parked at the base of Miller Rock.

It's so cool to finally get Sandi to this spot. We've been hiking to Miller Rock from the Ceran St. Vrain trailhead for over a decade.
I've always wanted to go off-roading in this area, but never even saw a single vehicle back here (done this hike at least a hundred times of the years).
We decided to do the hike the day before - thought it would be cool. When we got to Miller Rock on this particular hike, all-of-a-sudden,
there came a group of Jeeps out of the woods, and drove right past us. Man. Never saw a single one before in all these years,
and then BOOM! for the first time on the very day before we do it for our first time. Pretty neato.  :)

Next, are some photos from the rest of the trail beyond Miller Rock, and our airing-up stop just outside of 'the Camp'.
Here's the link...
