First check of Wineger Ridge/Gross
Reservoir for the season (20080531)
I've been here a lot in the past (with
the LEMON
& the wimp), but this was the first
time with Sandi.
Here's Sandi threading the needle...
In the left image, you can see a Jeep Wrangler in the background.
After watching this, he decided to just go around, the easy way.
The guy just going off-screen on the right is the driver of the Wrangler.
He helped spot me a bit to make sure I didn't rip off anything while threading
the needle.
looking back at 'the needle' once I got back on the main trail...
This is Gross Reservoir
You can see the dam in the background in this image
(apx. half way between the front bumper and the top of the mountain immediately
above it).
The double-lump object out in the middle of the reservoir is a couple people out
in a boat.
Here's where I'm about to stray from Sandi and get caught up with the flowers...
Of course, with all these flowers, there's bound to be a bee or two-thousand...
Ok, for the final shot, back to Sandi.
p.s...
This place basically only has two real obstacles that I know of. The
first one is 'the rock wall of all rock walls' (at least as far as what I've
seen in person anywhere thus far). Needless to say, yesterday I only got close to it,
looked it over again for the first time in a couple years, and then drove away.
Even with Sandi, I'm pretty sure it's still a bit too much.
I'm sure none
of the other COFJs that I've met so far would try it either.
Yep, that's a dare.
;) Let me know whenever you want to come over and give it a try.
I did do the other obstacle later in the day, but unfortunately, I did not
record it. So, since I wanted to post some kind of video from the day, even though the only video I recorded was something pretty tame by FJ standards, I decided to upload it to YouTube
anyway.
Here it is...
I will be back there with fj4M&E on Wednesday. We'll do the obstacle that I did
yesterday, and will get a video uploaded that evening.
