Spring Creek trail-run with some of
the other Colorado FJs (20080511)
Moseying along up Spring Creek Trail...
Eric (fjcruiser123), Jock (RockMtnHigh) and maybe DonG back there?
Oh, is that an FJ I see? What a great excuse to take another photo in this
beautiful place.
Here's the first look at Bill's brush with the slope.
Of course, in hind-sight, we might say that it doesn't really look so bad.
As I look at it now, we may even want to say that he probably could have just
driven right back out of this....
but if you look at the fact that Dustin is standing at least a foot higher than
Bill's right tire, and if you focus in on
the dirt pile that bulged up to the right of the right front tire just before I
yelled, "STOP!", I'm not so sure.
Here's a video of the situation...
I probably sounded like a goofball, repeating that I think they should hook him up
on the left side,
but eventually, it happened ...just not in any of these photos. :)
Talk about team-work.
So, are you starting to get the idea of how bad this could have been?
Nope. There's no trail there. Just tree and snow.
In case you can't tell, we're talking about on the right side of that tree
right in the middle.
At one point, the question, "How many shovels we got?" came out.
I would have been, but no one else really seemed up for it.
Meanwhile....OH! there's the town, down below.
Seriously though....to his credit...before he did this, Bill told me he wasn't
actually thinking of driving through it.
He just wanted to park it up on the drift.
...and in all reality, there was most likely never really any serious danger.
...it just looked worse from outside of the cockpit than fro in it.
...oh wait....what does that mean? (j/k) :)
Here's the drive back out with winch attached to left rear...
Not an issue.
Next are some shots of us
heading back down to the picnic area...
? What do you |~_~| |
